Our Mission

We support Kentucky educators and schools in delivering high-quality computer science, AI, and emerging technology education that prepares students for future-ready opportunities.

Computer Science & AI Professional Learning Program (2026-2027)

AdvanceKentucky offers high‑quality summer workshops and year‑round support for Kentucky educators teaching Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. All programs are open to teachers of any experience level and provide hands‑on training, curriculum support, and practical instructional strategies aligned to Kentucky CS standards. 

Summer Workshop Dates and Costs

(AP®) Computer Science Principles

  • Dates: July 13–17, 2026

  • Location: Lexington, KY

  • Time: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM EDT

  • Cost: $1000 (Scholarships Available)

  • Meets ACS Certification Requirements

Our Initiatives

CSforAll SCRIPT

The SCRIPT — the Strategic CSforALL Resource & Implementation Planning Tool — is a framework to guide teams of district administrators, school leaders, and educators through a series of collaborative visioning, self-assessment and goal-setting exercises to create or expand upon a computer science education implementation plan for their students.

AI Foundations

As the Code.org Regional Partner for the state of Kentucky, we provide professional learning for teachers to prepare them to use Code.org curricula with their students.

AI Foundations introduces students to the core principles of computer science and the growing role of artificial intelligence. Through hands-on Python programming, visual problem-solving, and critical analysis, students learn how computing systems work and how data powers AI. They investigate cybersecurity, interpret data, and examine the impact of AI on individuals and communities, building the skills to solve real-world problems with intelligent tools.

Computer Science Fundamentals

Consisting of six courses optimized for grades K-5 and designed to be fun and engaging, Computer Science Fundamentals courses blend online and "unplugged" non-computer activities to teach students computational thinking, problem solving, programming concepts and digital citizenship. 

Computer Science Discoveries

Computer Science Discoveries is an introductory computer science course for 6 - 10th grade students. Mapped to CSTA and Kentucky Academic CS standards, the course takes a wide lens on computer science by covering topics such as problem solving, programming, physical computing, user centered design, and data, while inspiring students as they build their own websites, apps, animations, games, and physical computing systems.

Computer Science Principles

(AP®) Computer Science Principles introduces students to the foundational concepts of computer science and challenges them to explore how computing and technology can impact the world. More than a traditional introduction to programming, it is a rigorous, engaging, and approachable curriculum that explores many of the foundational ideas of computing so all students understand how these concepts are transforming the world we live in.

AP® Computer Science A

Computer Science A is an Advanced Placement (AP®) course designed to broaden participation in computer science. Code.org is recognized by the College Board as an endorsed provider of AP® Computer Science A curriculum and professional development. The Course has been reviewed by the College Board and is pre-approved to pass the audit. The professional development is also endorsed by the College Board as meeting (and exceeding) the standards of the AP® Summer Institutes.
